A habit is something only you are able to make happen, change, or add to your life. No one will do it for you. You have to take the action required if you want something different in the future.

What things are habits in your life? Brushing your teeth, driving to work, cooking meals, and complimenting your children? Or smoking, drinking excessively, berating the people around you, and complaining? All of these actions may have become habits. They developed over time. They didn’t just jump into your mind all at once and take over. When water drips, it can wear away stone over many years. So by adopting better habits, you will slowly cultivate your character to become the tremendous person you’ve always wanted to be.

“You don’t have to be in charge or powerful or pretty or connected to be a leader. You do have to be committed.”

— Seth Godin, Tribes

Who am I to tell you to change your habits? I am just an ordinary woman who has lived in a few small towns in the Dakotas. God brought me through some minor and major trials and tests in each town. He has called me to share those stories with you so you will know you are not alone, that there is an amazing plan for your life, and so you will keep going! Your service and smile matter to those around you, whether you know it or not.
